Monday (Today)
Walked into C3 - 04 today for Math Studies, and was greeted with the most realistic imitation of a garbage dump. The guys had the windows wide open and after complaining of the smell I propped the door open with a desk. After more complaints we migrated to the circular classroom follow by good old B3 - 09.

Then for PE we had the 2.4 run, and my timing was 30 seconds worse than my old Sec 4 timing -___- and my ankle was stiff real bad afterwards. Lex died, so Elliot and I sent him to the matron.

After school I changed into my clothes for the ink assignment, waited outside the staffroom for gazoinks with Mr Tan SL for Yihang to turn up. Got fed up, called him and Kaijun came instead, then we went to 6.7 to collect Mr Whang and then return to the staffroom for some odd, meaningless and not really funny rubbish. Afterwards I met Cielo and we went to Cold Storage Jelita and she bought a watermelon (wtf?!) and I uh, bought salted duck's eggs.

Sunday
Woke up at 4am, unable to breathe. Tried blowing my nose and nothing came out, instead those weird glands at the top were swollen till I couldn't breathe. Suspect it was the inhalation of the cigarette smoke from Adrian Pang's damned cigarettes. Went back to sleep breathing with my mouth.

Woke up at 12:30pm. OMG. Spent the rest of the day lumping around and baked a fail blueberry pie (because it collapsed). Didn't do any bloody work.

Saturday
Woke up early for YLS. Went to school not knowing where the hell is was and ended up following the mass of people there. Spent 1 hour 20 mins talking to JLC/other people because the damn guest of honours were late. The GOHs came, was boring as hell. That was slowly followed by the Q & A session, so Steph, Christabel and I escaped to the SAC where we found the council members and the buffet. Ohohoho.

We adjourned for lunch and a whole bunch of people headed for fun-o-rama, leaving a few of us behind to jaga their bags. JLC, Gen, Nicholas, Gerald, Cheryl, Elliot and I then headed for good old 6.9 to bum around for about 30 mins. There, we met Darren. JLC and Gerald started playing Little Fighter 2 on Gerald's com, and Gerald was the first to die (why the hell do I remember this).

My chamber was down to 2 people who were staying the entire duration of the summit (since I too had to leave early, damnit we were told it would end at 5pm previously) so we ended up combining with Cheryl's chamber. There I sat next to Steph and:
1) was really bored
2) brain dead from TOK
3) started typing 'Hurrrr' on Gen's laptop, and kept my finger on the 'r' key
4) Steph jumped in and started typing 'r' too, including lots of copy pasta.
5) Manage to find out the maximum number of pages Microsoft word supports (32,799)
6) saved the world's largest purely text Microsoft word file (100,000kb+) [damn Gen, I want those screenshots]
7) kept cracking up whenever I thought about it - so I started laughing uncontrollably at inappropriate moments
8) Cheryl started saying 5 'likes' in every sentence
9) I thought the VJC girl next to me was Sec 4. She was actually JC 2 (ERRRRR.)
10) was told that I 'like eating' by Louis Leong (eh wtf?!)

So we had like 5 extra snack packs left over, even after some of us took another one. I ended up carrying them and feeling really greedy :x

Then it was on to the LT for presentations. I sat next to Cheryl and Gen (who somehow later ended up next to Rajesh - I forgot who was next to him initially). We started off by playing bingo, then moving on to the ABC game with 'names of people in school' as the first theme. We played 'cartoons', 'musical instruments','drinks', 'fruits and vegetables' and 'districts in Singapore'. Very productive.

For the last two, Cheryl and I had some boys vs girls thing with Gen and Rajesh, but Jiayun who sat in front kept helping them. Later they even leaned back and got Torston and Baey's brother to help them -_________________- so Cheryl and I asked Christabel and Gwen (the VJC girl) for help. We were leading for both, but toward the end got stuck and resulted in one loss and one draw ):

Nic who was in the chamber playing Civ 4 below, got stopped from playing his game sometime between our various ABC games. We looked up see a powerpoint slide of 'WHY THE FUCK CAN'T I PLAY MY FUCKING GAME?!' and our chambers just died LOL-ing.

Then I headed back home to prepare for The Pillowman.

The theatre was really cold and the first scene reminded me of pyramid head :x Then the rest of the actors came out and OH GOD CIGARETTE SMOKE *cough hack cough*. Thank you lovely first row seats. I probably inhaled more smoke than I have in my entire life. I enjoyed the play and the best parts had to be when Katurian Katurian Katurian started retelling his stories and the projector would show animated comic panels on the walls. That and the disturbing scene when he recalled his twisted childhood mixed with the story 'the writer and the writer's brother'.

On the way home, I had sen mian! (I've not had it since I was in MGS, and boy do I miss it!)

Friday
TOK presentation. ZOMG stressful.

Practiced 3 times.

Was the last one to go -__________________-

JLC and Daryl said the presentation seemed quite alright, so hopefully I'll get an acceptable grade. A certain teacher acted like a prick though. He walked in and out during my presentation, and then during Q & A asked me something really off (because he had not heard my definitions of foreign intervention) and I was left to wtf. Luckily Daryl stopped him by pointing out (albeit later) that I had defined my terms as interference in the events of another country. Que 1 minute of silence as the examiners are rendered silent.

'Er, you can go now. Remember to fill in and hand in your forms'

-_______________________________________________________________-

Thank you Daryl

Thursday
Sought help from JLC and Daryl for TOK presentation.

So total tally of people I have gotten help from:
A Cashew Nut
Daryl
JLC
Nicholas
Samuel Cheam
Gen
Mai
Song Yeong (sat for my trial presentation)
Reverse Weeaboo

That list is roughly in order of importance (since not all factors can be ranked! Ohohoho.)

Stayed back with JLC, Chun Wui, Gerald, Joash, Elliot, Cielo, Song Yeong to do the presenation - ended up leaving school at 7:15pm. Whoooooosh.

Damnit it's really late now, I should go (and blog about my birthday when I remember it...)

'This is not a multi-level pyramid scheme'. (listen to the audio)

Yes! And I am going to get an A for my Extended Essay.
I feel like a fat blob.

I don't want to do work.

Why is there work.

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

I have a really bad feeling about tomorrow.

Meep ):

Monday, March 24, 2008

I've decided that I should at least have a pointer on an interesting thing that has happened to me over the course of one day - so at least when my memory fails I can read this blog and feel like my life is less of a waste (or that 2008 was more interesting than the mass of examinations and tests it is gearing up to be)

Monday (Today):
Horrible morning. I woke up to the realisation that I forgot to reset the minute portion of my clock, so I woke 25 minutes late. After rushing around, I was most displeased to find that for once in almost a month - the damned bus was earlier than usual. Hoo-bloody-ray.

Mr SS wasn't around for PE, so we had a trial shuttle run. Lex and Nic kept dropping the shuttle cocks, both only getting it right on the third try. Daryl and I ran 10 rounds around the gym for extra exercise and some asshat (initials: C.Y.) kept blocking my way so I kept shoving him/deliberately colliding into him to get him out of the bloody way.

Cheryl also called the fail sg.cafe guy today. I find it more amusing however that one of the new players in the game has absolutely no awareness that I was one of the primary players, and that I was the one who passed on his handphone number. And because I don't exist - I get to post this here ^_^

Sunday:
At Cold Storage in Cluny Court, I was wnadering around the miniscule fozen goods section when out of the corner of my eye I saw a middle aged Caucasian stide up to the chilled drinks singing 'AHHHH CARLSBERG!'. I looked at him and LOLed and he looked at me and smiled. He then wandered over to the wines (which was opposite the frozen goods aisle) and started talking about wines to me. He said that a $20 wine has no difference from a $40 wine - it's at the $40 mark that the taste changes. He selected a Matthew Lang wine for $19.95 (cabernet? I think), highly recommended it to me and the other random Caucasian lady walking down the aisle. She took a bottle, and so did he. As he walked up and down the aisle, our conversation moved on to how it was surprising that I had no boyfriend, how he had some younger friends to introduce me to if I wanted, and how being young was the best time to be in love.

Saturday:
At ICA (see post), had lunch with the grandmother at some pathetic buffet place in Takashimaya because Au Petit Salut was closed for a private function and she prompty forgot that there were other places to eat in Dempsey Hill (Oh well, so much for a Birthday lunch).

Friday:
Slept most of the day, and finished Grotesque into the wee hours of the night (actually 3:00am). Went to sleep thinking about prostitutes and sex.

Thursday:
Had TOK presentation, which was quite a disaster. Thank goodness only Gerald, Song Yeong, Mai and Sir Reverse Weeaboo were around to see it. The Indian lady didn't turn up for Biology so a few of us (Mary, Jeanette, Tessa, Charles, Chaya, Amanda) were talking about the impending student council voting.

Saturday, March 22, 2008

I just put my brother to sleep by playing The Darkness. After all, what music to better appeal to a young teenager than extremely bad rock music originating from dodgy sources? Looks like the CD that I bought when I was Sec 3? (it was with Ianthe and from HMV, lined up in some specials rack facing the entrance on the second floor - I have no idea why I remember this) was finally useful for something. I listened to it once before and that was it.

-----

I was at the ICA today to pick up my poor IC (I kept putting off going to collect the re-done one, and well, they sent me a letter on Wednesday to tell me they found my old one :D:D:D:D). When my grandma dropped me off, I was faced with a veritable mass of humanity and started cursing the decision I made to even think to visit ICA on a weekend. However, faced with a conflicting schedule (I refuse to visit the ICA on my birthday or on Friday when I had a vague notion of going out - I have the official TOK presentation now though, damnit) I had no real choice.

However when I went there, I was rather astonished to find that collection of lost ICs had their own special section - with the ominous words 'Interview Room' printed on them. Oh shit. I stood a distance away from the rooms nervously glancing up at the numbers and my queue number; just my luck that Singapore was so efficient that I was next one in line :x

The door opened and the crack revealed two guys sitting at the interview table looking morose, an Indian man who looked like he was in charge was holding the door open. My breath smelled like eggs :x Then my queue number flashed up and I sprang to my feet and felt like I was headed to my doom. Maybe they were going to detain me there and rearrange my brain to be some strange Drong spy.

The Indian man stopped and spoke to me outside the door and told me to hand him my items (letter, IC collection slip, queue number) and then return to my seat outside. I complied. After about five minutes I was called into the room :x I was steeling myself up to be drilled mercilessly by the IC gods but he just told me to sign two pieces of paper and wait again outside to collect my IC. Eh, what the heck?

So outside I waited, and before 5 minutes were over, my name was called and I held my old nerd pic IC in my hands again. I still had about 20 mins to kill till my grandma swung by to pick me up again for lunch, so I wandered about the ICA building. Did you know there's an ICA gallery? It's actually quite interesting and was pretty crowded. There I found out something(s), so uh Victor don't let any weird ICA people catch you with the plane gift I got you from China. They had various other interesting paraphernalia like:

1) Bong made out of a glass coke bottle. It looked like it had an erection or something.
2) Bong made out of coconuts
3) Furry handcuffs with tiger print (I LOLED)
4) Porno mags (isn't the internet better?!)
5) Nunchakus with a golden dragon motif
6) A crocodile skull (eh wtf?)
7) Dodgy religious material, by some weird prophet from God-knows-where (HEY LOOK A PUN)*
8) Some weird instructional manual on some odd religion*
9) Something that had an Indian god/goddess picture on it and was unreadable*
10) A poor Lala that had it's stuffing ripped out and drugs stuffed inside (I found this really funny too, because there was this little kid running around and was trying to reach for the Lala toy)

*(So this actually means we'll have no harebrained Scientologists here... I think)

Outside there was also an exhibition on modified cars to show smuggling of illegal immigrants. I actually felt kinda sad looking at that. It made me think of Ghosts and the most excellent book that I finished last night, Grotesque by Natsuo Kirino.

Ack it's 2:00 am! I'd better go now.

Monday, March 17, 2008

To the kind readers of this blog, please spare about 5 mins of your time and help and a poor, POOR Math Studies student with his survey.

In other news, being disrespectful to your seniors and saying stupidly judgmental things during a student forum will
not get you elected into council. Instead you will get negative voted to hell and back. Just saying, you know.

“This is my fucking life, not a dress rehearsal.”

Friday, March 14, 2008

I could not possibly think of a better way to end Mosaic Fest 2008 (for me anyway), than to end with Sondre Lerche and the Faces Down.

Broken Social Scene on Sunday was great, save for a weirdo who kept headbanging and doing the rock on sign at the most inappropriate moments. I would have called him a troll - but there was a point where he stood up to dance and he just fucking vibrated on the spot like he was having a seizure or something while blocking
my view. Asshole. In fact, his pants were so damn low that if he started jumping, I bet I would see his asshole.

I was disappointed that none of the Stars crew or Emily Haines came down. I kind of wanted Feist to come too, but she held a lower priority and didn't come anyway. What was surprising was that when it was announced she wasn't present, people
cheered. Wtf. Is this some sort of reverse mainstream reaction because she's gotten some mainstream coverage and I'm way too cool to ever like anything mainstream? Sure, I get a little annoyed when all people can say to me is 'I LOVE 1234!', but I still love her nonetheless -___- Go to hell you damn hipsters, in your tight striped shirts, converses, black skinny jeans, indie hair and indie glasses. In your trying to be 'unique' and 'alternative', you're following yet another damn cow herd -________________- (okay how the hell did posting about BSS become some rant against 'indies' and 'hipsters'?)

Andrew Whiteman of Apostles of Hustle was also there, to my pleasant surprise. Also because I never knew who was actually behind Apostles of Hustle (I'm a bad fan, right?). No Apostles of Hustle songs were played (I hoped there might be some sort of solo thing - but nothing of the sort happened), though Kevin Drew did attempt an impromptu version of 1234 which died halfway because he forgot the lyrics.

After the show Jia Hui and I wanted to look around and we soon found ourselves at the autograph area. The queue was absolutely crazy, it snaked all the way to the end till the queues collided with the merchandise booth way at the other end of the foyer. We hung around watching Kevin Drew pop up and high five people in the queue and took pictures of them signing autographs while some really drunk ang moh lady behind kept screaming incoherent shit every 30 seconds. She even drank from one of those stereotypical 'take a swig of whiskey' kind of metal flasks (the flat ones).

However as awesome as BSS was, múm was better. Listening to their songs at home, I never really noticed the drums or the bass -but live! Holy shit, the drummer was excellent :x Oh God, if I had a drum fetish it'd be aural orgasms. I was tired too, because the TOK session earlier had worn me out and I was brain dead. At some points I actually wanted to fall asleep (alas that is the fate of all ambiance music, no matter how discordant or experimental) but kept fighting it. I cannot actually convey why múm was better in my opinion (HAHAHA TOK) but it definitely was.

The encore at the end was wonderful too, they played Smell Memory which is my favorite múm song. I was kind of disappointed that they pre-recorded some bits as I wanted to see how they made the sound live (it sounded vaguely harp like). Autograph signing was also possible since Jia Hui and I were seated in the foyer seats near to the exits (right smack in the middle of the rows!) and it was not a full house like BSS. Most of the crowd that attended múm were also older looking, like 20-ish++, and therefore less likely to be fangirls/boys.

The queue for the autographs was also really slow and the band took it's time coming out of hiding. However when we reached them, they were really friendly and all 6 of them signed my ticket. The first one took the trouble to spell my name out and the first lady said I should listen to this dead French Composer who had a song with my name in it. The guy at the end (Oh God, I'm a horrible fan) was so bored he drew 'E's all over my ticket from the 'MEL***E' (I don't need this blog popping up on google easier than it already does). He drew a flower on Jia Hui's ticket with a dot in the middle. It actually reminded me of a fertilised female egg.

But Sondre! OH SONDRE. MIND BLOWINGLY GOOD. It wasn't even as sold out as I thought it'd be -with seating only till Circle 2. What a pity. Out seats were pretty good too, 3rd row seats from the front :D I loaned Nic my strange green Fujifilm camera, and fiddling with the ISO he managed to take pretty decent pics (keeping in mind it
is my shitty camera).

The songs I can remember off the top of my head are Airport Taxi Reception, Track You Down, John, Let Me Go, Tragic Mirror, She's Fantastic - not forgetting of course the house raising Phantom Punch and Two Way Monologue. He played some other stuff from Faces Down and Dan in the Real Life which I wasn't familiar with, but it was excellent anyway. Best bit came I suppose, when he asked us to stand up and dance towards the end. I was already tapping my poor feet to the beat (thank goodness I bought some strange ankle support today - I think I re-killed my right angle keeping the beat) and moving my head. Standing up and moving about was certainly enjoyable. Especially since I had some random Norwegians behind me who looked closer to my parent's age than mine, I was less self conscious. There was also some guy in front who had the same shirt I had, of a giraffe and a green dinosaur hugging - too bad I didn't wear the same shirt.

For the encore, Sondre came out without his shirt on, leaving his singlet on. For some reason when I saw that, I thought of Kurt Cobain. They were good sports about the encore too, playing 3 songs. If I'm not wrong, they actually played for almost 40 minutes extra (including the encore), since the performance was supposed to be 1 hour only, so hooray for Sondre Lerche and the faces down! His attempts at Mandarin and Malay were pretty cute too.

After the show, Jia Hui, Hui Ming, Nicholas and I ran into Cielo, Cheang Jin, Cao, Bobbie and Hadi at the autograph area. From standing around randomly, a queue suddenly formed around me but Jia Hui was a little in front so I went to her instead. Sandwiched between the two groups was this irate looking Filipino woman, so hey Cielo if you read this: PUTANG INA! KANTUTA NA! GAA MO KALAKI ANG TITI MO? (I love my maid, Felicidad, for teaching me that too :D) Anyway Cielo wanted to get her iPod signed (eh is it Bumblebee? Or Megatron?) and rename it to Sondre. The idea of getting Middlemarch II signed never even occured to me, so as we got closer to the actual signing, I borrowed Cielo's idea and got Middlemarch II signed too (so thank you Cielo for coming up with the idea and Nic for telling me to go ahead with it). At the signing however, Sondre looked really tired and tiny with the hood of his hoodie (eh this sounds weird) pulled up. His eyes however, were piercingly blue and beautiful. Shit, unfair - I could never produce a kid with such blue eyes ): He sounded looked really tired though, but was nice enough to thank me for saying that he put up a great show.

As I was trying to figure out a way to keep Middlemarch II temporarily while I got some sort of protector for her, I realised that Nic forgot to get Yifang's CD signed. So quickly grabbing the CD from him, I ran to the bit where Hadi was while saying 'Hadi Hadi Hadi!' over and over and poking him with the CD. After I handed him the CD, I noticed there were like 3 Malay guys who were next to me who started chanting 'Hadi Hadi Hadi!' over and over. For some really strange reason - I thought they were his friends initially, till I realised they were some random hipsters who were hanging around the autograph area.

Argh Phantom Punch and Two Way Monologue were so excellent live I don't think I ever want to listen to those songs again ): it might overwrite my memory or something.

Anyway, I get to actually use this comic from indexed now:

So thus ends Mosaic Fest 2008 for me. I'll be back next year if possible. PLEASE, METRIC, STARS and CARDIGANS, COME!

Shit it's 4:16am. I really ought to sleep, but how :x

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

One of the things you learn in TOK is that language is a limitation. You could say TOK is fucking pissing me off and making me fucking frustrated - but that goes no way in explaining the inherent distress I feel every time I think about TOK nor the actual feeling of aforementioned distress.

My TOK presentation is tomorrow.

I have sought help from:
1) The Alchemist
2) Samuel Cheam
3) Nicholas Seow
4) Various other people I have had 1 line conversations about TOK with

...and I am still not any wiser about what the hell a 'TOK perspective' is a 'Knower's Pespective' or whatever rubbish it is I am
supposed to know but don't. It's not even from a lack of trying. I pay attention to the tutorials, the lectures (well fine, I dozed off during the Sciences ones), other peoples presentations - but why do I feel like I still know absolutely nothing? URGH. So much for TOK trying to make a better person or thinker. I can only hope I do well enough to not disadvantage me later on for EE.

Meanwhile, I need to find something to wear for the presentation in school tomorrow that is still wearable to the Múm concert tomorrow at the Esplanade theatre >.<

(I think only last.fmers will get this, but I'm placing this up here anyway)

I found this really interesting app (dare I say cool?)

However I
strongly protest who I (ivesci) have been geographically placed nearest/next to. We don't even listen to the same music anymore -_______________- I suppose that corner is the indie corner while the other end where The-Hierophant occupies is the classic rock corner (Bob Dylan FTW!) The bit in the middle where twofoottwo, j3tsp33d and agiman congregate I agree with too.

Yesterday was an odd night at my Goh Ma's place to celebrate her uh, 80~90-ish birthday. I saw relatives I didn't even seen on Chinese New Year there. One of my cousins brought her kid over and everyone was cooing over the kid as expected. It was interesting to note however, that there hadn't been a baby in the family for some time (like maybe 5 years) so everyone was getting extra excited over this sproglet.

One of my aunts was carrying the baby (her eldest kid is 21) when my Uncle (the youngest in the family, probably gay and has never had a girlfriend, he's like 43 now or something) switched the tv programme to teletext to check the 4D (or maybe it was toto) results. Just as he was about to curse not winning anything again, my aunt gave a small shout of surprise. She had won! Just as well she wasn't an overly excitable lady or baby Kurt (I know, I laughed too. The only reason I can post so much shit is that no one in the family is actually 100% aware of each others surnames so I can't be google searched - I think) would have gone flying through the air. Anyway, I think the next favourite great grandchild in the family has been found because he is a lucky baby. He has funny hair which I like touching.

Also: the National Museum of Singapore is a really awesome place to go. I was there with Kaijun, Daryl, Chong Wee, Nicholas, Stephanie, Arjun and Brendan Ma on Friday afternoon after an !nk meeting. It was one of the best outings I've had in a while, especially the dinner in Burger King afterwards sans Nic and Kaijun with random observations about fat gaming boys (I had to resist the urge to call them gameboys) and the awkward turtle.

Alright - BSS tonight!

Ironically enough, I just realised I'm listening to Make Trade Fears by Everything is Made in China now while reading my Econs IA article about The Times of India complaining that even in the absence of quotas, Chinese textile imports increased more last year than that of India's.*

*I apologise for a really long sentence that I have no idea how to shorten.

I feel tired and mildly distressed again. I'm supposing it must be the dreary weather we had all day today.

The day was just looking a little bit up, by like 2 percentage points, when more shit happened -__- namely some asshat (better not have been deliberately, or I'll be REALLY upset) let his leaky ballpoint pen (thick viscous ink - all the better for me) leak on the lecture theatre armrest. This inconsiderate fool then failed to clean up the mess and it was still wet when I sat down.

It must have been when I was talking to Han An and leaned to my right (since I was at the end of the row) and leaned on the armrest at the same time. I didn't notice the stuff had wiped itself on my arm and when I turned back to the rest of the class on my left and moved about, the ink wiped off on my uniform -____- I didn't even notice till someone (Jim? Gen?) told me about it and I got a nasty shock.

I went to the bathroom and took off my blouse and tried to wash it with the available handsoap. For some reason the soap there stank. I was half wondering if it was like the poisonous soap that was in the guy's bathroom on level 1 which the guys were all complaining about. However unlike the guys, I still had to keep washing even with the stink (though unlike them afterwards, there was no discernible smell after I rinsed with water). After scrubbing and rinising for the fifth time, I gave up and wrung the blouse as best as I could. Stepping out of the bathroom however, I felt uncomfortably exposed in my sweater.

Pissed off and definitely more than mildly distressed, I walked back to the lecture theatre. Outside, I met Debbie and the rest of .14 going in and I told her about the ink mess. Luckily she had an extra t-shirt handy, so I returned to the bathroom to change into it. I still felt strange in the t-shirt (Love MGS, the one with the hearts and lightbulb motif) and the bit of yellow that poked up over the sweater made me think I was in some strange Crescent uniform. Surprisingly, no teacher asked me why I wasn't in uniform. One female teacher kept staring at me, but said nothing, then Kenneth Huang who was standing next to me and talking to TK also said nothing.

When I got home, I was not pleased to find that the bag I placed my uniform in wasn't waterproof. The water seeped into my pencil box (which used to be stained in many colours) and then the ink started to run again, into my Virgil book -____- If it was a normal book I wouldn't have minded so much, the colours actually looks pretty, but this was from the Great Loves series! Urgh. The ink in my uniform also refuses to come out even with bleach.

On another note today is 1 year + 1 day that I have been in ACSI. I would love to write some romanticised sentimental blog post about how wonderful this place it - but I've gone through some vague forms of hell here (and still am) and I'm not about to go delusional just yet. ALSO: I don't like things that are overly romanticised. If it's shit it's shit. If you're a bastard SAY YOU'RE A BLOODY BASTARD, don't say stuff like 'I think it ended well' and pretend I don't bloody exist anymore. Arjun, I wish you told me sooner.

And lastly, Life! on Sunday got one thing write, Page One at Vivo has simply one of the best informed help desks. The guy there found Freud for me, after I found Mansfield, so my entire collection is now complete. I felt kinda depressed seeing all the books there, so easily obtainable! And even more irritating was that they sold the box sets, which Kinokuniya and Borders didn't. Please please please open another Page One in Orchard, I beg you O Page One god, I will patronise you everytime I go to Orchard - Vivo is too out of the way ):

Attention! New 'virus' called MonaRonaDona
(or wtf, why me again?!)

I shut down Saoirse for once in a long time last night, and when I booted her again during Math, there was a little cream square at the bottom left of my desktop, with the words HI I AM MONA RONA DONA, I AM A VIRUS. Then it started waffling on about how it was created because people are unaware about Human Rights issues (what is this? Reverse psychological assassination of Amnesty International?!) and it was here to EXACT REVENGE ON THE WORLD (GB2 Death Note Kira).

Apparently this is a new virus that has popped up over the weekend and I still have no idea how I got it. The only information I have currently is from internet forums, especially the most helpful broadbandreports.com forum with discussions about the virus and how to remove it. Another thing mentioned on the forum is that the virus appears to be a ploy to make people download this software called UniGray to get the virus removed, but the software is apparently malicious in nature as well.

Anyway thank goodness I was in school, because Nic managed to fix it within 20 minutes. Still it was unpleasant having to worry about my laptop again because it's been barely a month+ since she got infected with the other malicious shit. I still can't get my Task Manager to work though. Shit.

Saturday, March 01, 2008

Shit, this is absolutely one of the best, more devastating essay piece I have seen in a long time - on none other than 'rapes' which occur in university. It's an extremely long piece (ah Arts & Letters Daily, how I do love your long winded-ness) but worth it if you can be bothered to read it.*

In summary it says most of the 'rapes' that occur are nothing more than girls getting drunk and wasted, then throwing themselves on guys. The next morning, they wake up next to some smarmy guy and voila! Rape. My dad always talks about them in general (I don't want to begin to imagine what he got up to in Canada away from my Mama), which is why he really hates the idea of me even drinking a little I suppose. (I'm not of course, dismissing actual rape, I have a firm belief that all rapists and paedophiles ought to have the offending organ chemically castrated off.)

*I don't actually believe anyone who reads this blog is going to read it, but this is for my own memo and reference later I suppose.
