I got paid today! Woooo.

I am depositing 66.6666666666666666666666667% of it into my bank account.

Sigh I hate change.

Monday, January 29, 2007

To my utmost horror today, I realised I made a major mistake when I was photocopying the stuff for the Court of Appeal. It turned out that EVERYTHING had to be resized with a margin and 'A B C' denoting lines, not just the notes of evidence. UGHHH. I was in such a bad mood thing morning.

Anyway for lunch, Mr Tan brought us (the interns) and another partner, Mr Bala, out. It was supposed to pacify me or something for yesterday's events. Bla. The place he brought us to was some fine dining place at Robertson Quay which belonged to a client of his. I won't mention the name here because I am going to sort of insult the food, and the main reason the guy was even of client in the first place was because he wanted to sue this blogger who had slandered the restaurant. Fun fun fun.

I really felt uncomfortable there and I wanted to die when I saw the prices for the food. As it is I feel bad when people treat me to things (except members of my intermediate family), but this place was like OMG WTF??? expensive. I glanced at the prices for a moment before deciding to not look at it again in case I lost my appetite. In the end I asked Mr Tan to order for me. He ordered a Lobster Bisque and a Tenderloin steak for me. Another reason I felt so uncomfortable there was that I had never been to such a place like that before. While the rest looked so comfortable, I felt edgy and totally pretentious. At least now I know that I don't belong in such places = more savings on food.

When all the soups came I burst out laughing, because the French Onion soups looked like they had exploded in the microwave oven or something, completely splattering the 'bowls'. As for the 'bowls' they looked more like urns. You know, those kind people keep ashes of their dead beloveds. Fascinating. My soup was also really salty, but I'm not sure if that's the case exactly because the food in my house has been bland to accommodate my grandmother and father's dietary needs, so a slight increase in the salt content could seem like a lot to me.

They didn't even have normal water there. Nooo, it had to be Perrier. It felt weird drinking it when one's tastebuds are expecting water. Like you know, H2O minus the Citric Acid and the Carbon Dioxide. The steak was really good, but the fries looked over done. In the end I was so full after eating the steak I couldn't even touch the fries. Ben ate a few of my fries instead.

Back at the office, I continued photocopying till my calve muscles and back ached. Alia helped me quite a bit too with the photocopying (: Mr Tan asked me to stay behind and he'd drop me off at home later, but I was really so tired I wanted to curl up in a ball on the floor and go to sleep. However after I got home and took a shower, I felt much better, but I'm still tired nonetheless.

If the rumours are right, my O level results will be coming out in one week.

UGHHHH TODAY REALLY SUCKED!

I woke up at 7:30am today because I had to go to work. My dad dropped me off around 9:00am and I went to the office, only to find that NO ONE WAS THERE. GRRRRRR.

The previous day I had explicitly asked Mr Tan if he wanted me to be there tomorrow and he said "yes", so there I was at 9:00am outside the office and NO ONE WAS INSIDE. I heard some others saying they were going to be at work too, but no one was there. Blaaaaa.

So after waiting about 5 mins, I got fed up and decided to walk around and explore the area. I ended up walking from my office to Tanjong Pagar, with a black look on my face that caused the few people I passed to do a double take, when the strap on my sandal broke. F**K! That meant I couldn't walk with the sandals anymore. I ended up taking out my sandal and walking barefooted to the MRT.

Then I took the MRT to City Hall, because there are shops there and I thought I could buy a replacement or something. There I recalled something else: It was 10am on a Sunday morning. NO ONE IS AWAKEEEE (well sort of...) and ALL THE STORES WERE CLOSED. OMGGGGG.

Then I sat on a bench outside MPH/Charles and Keith waiting for SOMETHING TO OPEN. There I held my sandal in my hand and had this really weird look on face for dunno how long (acting like a deranged statue), attracting loads of weird stares, till MPH finally opened.

I went straight to the stationery department but couldn't find any super glue so I asked the cashier - they were sold of of super glue. OMGGG! So in the end I bought masking tape and sat on the aforementioned bench taping it together. Then I went to walk around Raffles City exploring the place before I got sufficiently bored.

Around 11 something I called Ianthe to see if she was nearby, but she was with her family and at Suntec. So I started to walk from City Hall back to the office. Outside Raffles City was some weird Cheetah Disney shit road show, and I didn't see where I was going and tripped over some raised platform which hid the electrical wires -________________- In the course of my walk, I cut through Boat Quay and Raffles Place when I arrived about 12:00pm where I talked to the security guard who said no one was there (in addition to me calling the office/Mr Tan/my uncle every 20 mins) so I FINALLY gave up and went home.

At about 12:40pm a call came from Li Qin from the office -____- Then around 1:20pm a call came from MR TAN so I ended up yelling down the line at him. Then he asked me if I still want to go to work today. I tell you, I practically shouted down the line a resounding 'NO!'

Blaaaaa. Then my Uncle bought me a new pair of sandals when we went for dinner. He said he's going to charge it to Mr Tan. HAHAHA.

Right.

Today really sucked.

Ugh, I had to go back to the office today - and tomorrow too!

Some case (criminal breach of trust) has been sent to the Court of Appeal, the most fastidious and anal court in the entire land. Bloody hell.

The rules for presenting notes on evidence (basically minutes of the earlier trail dates) is like 30 pages long and photocopying them is like ASS. Thank goodness for the new photocopier which arrived yesterday, though it's a little weird.

Yesterday the tech guy tried to teach all of us how to use it, then he jammed up the machine - HAHAHAHA.

Okay right. I have work tomorrow. Bla. It's not that I don't enjoy work though, I really do! Just that I don't like it infringing on my weekends. I already work really hard on the weekdays. I want my weekends free!

The Sea Green Gang of Justice

Once upon a time in the land of Sillypore there lived a girl who commuted to work by MRT.

This girl was by no means a morning person. In fact she hated mornings. Mornings were meant for sleeping, not for moving about. Still nonetheless this girl got up everyday to go to work, somewhat druggedly. In fact her brain didn't really start functioning till after about and hour after she woke, approximately the time she was dropped off at the MRT station.

It was right after the weekend, the dreaded MONDAY and her she was feeling even more braindead that usual, if that was possible, however she still felt a little cheerful in her heart, after all it was yet another day to live - right? Today was also a special day, as in her hands she held her special SEA FOAM GREEN FILE which she intended to bring to work. From the outside, the file looked relatively normal, it said 'Ikoma Language School' in Arial font, inside were a few papers, however the file and the girl both held a secret - they were THE SEA GREEN GANG OF JUSTICE!

As the girl had a small smile on her lips, a woman passed by with a fearsome scrowl, making the girl angry because she was scrowled at for no reason! Within a nanosecond the girl zipped forth with her MIGHTY FILE OF JUSTICE and whacked the evil behemoth onto the train tracks. Just then, the train came by and squished the evil denizen, it's screams ending suddenly. The girl chuckled to herself and patted her file lovingly and walked on board the train.

The train was snug as usual, and it was a pretty uneventful ride. The girl was happy.

At her station, she got out and walked towards her office, stopping at the junction when the lights were green and the cars were a-going. Then a horrible sight met her dark brown eyes, it was a man, smoking! Worse still, the wind blew the smoke right at her direction! The girl dodged quickly to the left to avert the noxious cloud which drifted her way. Alas the effort was wasted as the evil scent of nicotine and various chemicals entered her system. She became furious again!

Out whipped her file and out the man flew and landed in the middle out the road where the cars rolled over his tar filled body till all that remained was a sickly dark red stain. The lights turned red as the girl laughed merrily to herself as a few crows flew down from their high perches to feast on the mulchy remains of the man.

All in a day's work, riding the world of evil!

Today I watched Shooting Dogs, a movie based on the Rwandan Conflict in 1994. It was quite sad :/ though the gore factor was turned down by ALOT, thankfully. It was still no less shocking, and unlike Hotel Rwanda (based on the same conflict), there was no happy ending to this one. The actor playing the teacher was quite cute too. Hahaha. I didn't recognise him as the prince from Ella Enchanted till I saw his IMDB profile.

Yesterday I watched Little Miss Sunshine and on Wednesday I watched Borat! Little Miss Sunshine was really funny and I loved it - Borat was outrageously funny too. I kind of understand why Ianthe said her mother puked after the watched it though.

Saturday, January 20, 2007

Yesterday I had Jap class! I stayed back for like 30 mins with Hana, Nadia and my cousin, plus the over eager Gai-us to talk to him. Hehehe, he's (sensei) so cute in a little boy way! During class he always laughs to himself after saying some barely cipherable English and when he laughs he puts his hand over his mouth and giggles to himself - ah so cuteee! Like a little boy.

Nadia asked him if he was really Tatsuya Fujiwara in disguise, then Mr Moriyama started giggling to himself. LOL. In my opinion he really does look like 'the captioned actor', except someone stepped on his face when he was younger.

In the end we only left around 10:20pm when the cleaner started switching off the lights.

Yesterday my cousin also quit working at the law firm, she was offered another job to do relief teaching in her old sec school, starting Monday, so yesterday I ended up going lunch with the other interns, Han Ping and Bill, both 20. Bill is Greek and an Australian citizen, his father knows Mr Namazie which is how he ended up working in the law firm. He's a 1st year student studying law. He really does look good, just not my type.

Han Ping is pretty short for a guy, but he doesn't look too bad either. The other day one of the secretaries referred to Han Ping as 'handsome' and Bill as 'delicious'. Okay anyway back to the lunch thing. It was really weird because people kept staring at the 3 of us (okay make that Bill), and those 2 come from really privileged backgrounds, and there I was, the youngest one walking to Amoy Street Food Centre, the place with the cheapest food around that area and super crowded, with those 2 following behind. Damn I felt stupid. Like ARRRRRRR!

Anyway during lunch I just kept quiet and ate my food while those 2 talked, which suited me just fine since I am a slow eater. I felt so out of it and awkward, I felt better eating lunch by myself during the 1st week.

Then when I got back to the office to do work, the computer starting acting up and mircosoft word CRASHED on me. ACK! I was so angry because it was one of those super dry court documents which I had been copy typing earlier, ie: super tedious work.

Then during the course of the rest of the day, I had to make yet another coffee run and I got Han Ping to follow me. The people at Coffee Bean recognised me because I go down so often and they took our orders. Everything seemed fairly normal. Then when we returned to the office, Han Ping discovered that our usual orders of lattes were now coffee, black. Since I don't drink coffee, I didn't notice. Then the straps on my right sandal suddenly broke even though they were quite new and I had to change to my court shoes. Double ARRRRRRR! Anyway Han Ping went down in the end, and according to him the people there said WE had written down coffee, which is ridiculous because I wrote down the word 'latte' twice, and Han Ping had seen the paper too! Unfortunately I couldn't remember what I did with the paper I wrote the order down on :/ BLAAAAA.

Luckily the rest of the working day was alright (for all 1 hour of it) and we (the interns) managed to leave on time at 6:00pm and I managed to meet up with Rebecca and have a fast dinner with her before class. I really like the junk food food court on the upper levels of Shaw (:

I want a Shiba!

I also feel terribly tired. I walked home from Buona Vista MRT today. It took me about 25 mins and I arrived back earlier than the damned bus -_______-

Wednesday, January 17, 2007

Today I took half day leave to go back to MGS for guides with Ianthe (:

Later, Stephanie came as well.

It was really nice seeing my friends again, but listening to them talk so much about their respective schools, I started to feel sad, like a part of my life was missing. Not that I really regret NOT going to YJC or anything and working's pretty great too, but somehow I felt grown up, rudely booted out of my adolescence into the world of grown ups. Also it doesn't help that now I'm really thinking about what I should do after the O levels. Last time all I wanted was to go to ACJC, but now I'm not even sure if I should take the A level route if it presents itself.

Then I wanted to go to ACSI, but today Stephanie said that I needed to get 7 for my L1R5 to go there. *shrugs* I might as well wish to go to RJC right? About the same -_________-

There's also the option of going overseas and taking the SATs instead (with my aunt's family in the USA), but again we'll have to see how I do in the O levels.

Last time you could only deviate from the route so much, but now my world has expanded suddenly, faster than I can keep up with. I have no idea what will happen next, what will become of me; I feel like I am lost without a map and no idea how to get out of this quagmire.

Help.

Monday, January 15, 2007

Once again I ran out of things to do online. So I went back to doing the No. 1 thing to do when I'm bored, read FANFICS. AHAHAHAHAHA.

As usual the Fanfics are really bad! Like durrrr. This one I was reading had such a over used plot, I can even tell you what happens next!
1) Guy supposed to chase girl
2) Guy ends up falling for girl
3) Girl falls for guy
4) Girl finds out guy originally was sent by someone to chase her
5) Boo hoo. Cry fest.
6) Guy and girl reunite. So happy together, bla.

Besides that the author was really bad at the English language. It was a prime example of 'telling' and not 'showing'. So bad.

I should try written my own Shitty Fanfic (tm) one of these days - someone give me a topic/character/story!

Today I went out with Ianthe to watch Blood Diamond. I don't really think it was that gory (contrary to Jacinth and Yihui), Ianthe too.

Afterwards we walked about Orchard Road and ended up at John Little where we took a bus home. Then because it was still raining, I made her come stay at my house.

There, I showed her my special 'Memories' Box and she found my old diaries. I kind of forgot what I wrote about inside so I let her read time. Wah seh, both of us couldn't stop laughing at the embarrassing rubbish I wrote.

Since I have a blog, I write all the light-hearted stuff here while in my diaries I write all my complaints, emo stuff, 'love' agonising and whatnot. AAAAAA, so embarrassing. She's also hardly mentioned inside the diary, and when I did a check on my blog, she was hardly mentioned too.

Ack ack ack, as she's my good friend I found it really weird. I didn't check out Stephanie and Angeline too (though it could be Steph, Ange or Angie). Bla.

I heard the O level results are coming out on the 5th Feb. I feel really bad when I think about it, and it's so far off! OMGGGGGG :(:(:( I feel so tense and stressed thinking about it.

Saturday, January 13, 2007

My aunt/grandmother was sleeping in the same room as me (my grandma still is) so in order to let them sleep, I didn't use the com at all, hence the lack of updates.

It's been a pretty eventful rainy days an at work I played a prank on Han Peng, another intern there with my cousin Rebecca, also interning there. We added a two inch thick layer of cinnamon powder to his cappuccino because we got fed with the extra work we had to do (he had requested for the powder, just not that much). He took a sip and started choking. Then when I disappeared to photocopy some stuff, he switched his cup with my hot chocolate but I caught it in time without drinking the vile concoction! Muahahaha.

Anyway yesterday I had my first Japanese language class! I signed up with Rebecca and I sat with her. We made 2 friends there, this pair of super hyper yaoi fangirls who are Sec 2 and 3, and most surprisingly - Malay!

There was also this super annoying know it all shit who looked like a stereotypical computer geek who fantasises about dating characters from final fantasy. He was so annoying that he even tried to show off by writing his name in hiragana and when others in the class forgot things you could hear him giving the answer. He didn't take off his cap too and he had this really ugly frown on his fat face. You can see that I really like him. Anyway since I suspect that he's those kinds of people that will google his name incessantly, I won't post his 'name' here without some sort of breaking up. Did I mention his name sounds like it was stolen from some failed Final Fantasy game? It's Ga-i-us. ZOMGGGGGG!!!!11111

There's also a French guy in my class! His name is Francois (Fran-swah apparently, instead of Fran-cois which is how I though his name was pronounced). He's the oldest of all of us, looks about 30 or older and he's very charming, but not my type. He even said his name with a 'swagger' in his voice like: waTa-shiwa Fran-Swah des (My name is Francois). The caps denote a stress.

On Wednesday I took half day off to accompany my aunt on her last day here. We were walking through Orchard MRT when this Malay guy, looked about late 20s approached us. I wanted to wave him off and say that I didn't want to donate anything when I held out his card and said he was from a talent agency called 'Create Talents' and I had the elegant look and asked me to think about modeling and to give my number to him for further contact. Like HUHHH? He also asked if I had a portfolio and I went "What?"

My aunt pestered the hell out of him and asked loads of questions while I stood there going "?????" in my mind. In the end we gave him my dad's number and left. When I told my parents they said he was probably a fraudster. Yesterday as I passed through Orchard MRT I saw him again, talking to these SERIOUSLY plain looking girls, one of whom had a fishball protruding from inside her mouth.

Then I had the brilliant idea that I should try and it out and expose the guy for who he was, since he was obviously playing up on people's egos to do some malicious thing, like call the NewPaper or something. Hurrrr. But I'm still too young to do such 'dangerous' undercover style reporting. Anyway I don't want to be a journalist next time. Beware the strange man called Zack in Orchard MRT!

Monday, January 08, 2007

Now that my grandma's well again, I can revert back to the number 1 topic bugging me: O level results.

Last night I couldn't sleep because I kept thinking about the O levels. I think now if I can get into ACSI for the IB programme, I'll go for it, on the other hand I have like ZERO confidence in my O levels so... Ack.

Saturday, January 06, 2007

The growth removed from my grandma's left kidney (and her kidney) is not cancerous! For the first time in many days I saw my grandmother smiling. However they're still going to do a biopsy on the growth in her lung and a bone scan to be 100% sure she is free from cancer.

Thanks to everyone who prayed!

Friday, January 05, 2007

Choto Matte Kudasai, please excuse me while I cry,
Sayonara means goodbye, but no one ever told me why;

Nothing to do with my grandma, just lines of this retarded song my father and uncle remembered. I find it very funny because the first line seems so emo. LOL.

Anyway my grandma has started to eat solids again and she was ravenously hungry, a good sign. I visited her again today before and after work. In other news, my aunt from the US is flying back for a few days to see my grandma and will be arriving tomorrow morning.

Thursday, January 04, 2007

I just had the most bewildering conversation with my maternal grandmother. She doesn't speak Mandarin or English and I don't speak Hokkien. It turned into a weird jabbering fest with me alternating between Mandarin and 'Tia Boh', learned from Miss Goh. In the end she muttered some words and put down the phone.

-----

Today was my first time in the Subordinate Courts. I spent the entire morning there with my cousin doing nothing while the Defendant considered settling out of court and in the end a trial was declared after lunch. I managed to explore the courtroom in the meantime, poking around here and there. The Defendant's lawyer's cross examination of the first witness was mind numbingly boring for the pure reason that the Defendant had no real case to fight. We ended around 4:00pm, adjourning for a later date. I probably won't be around then.

After work I went to visit my grandmother. She was still heavily sedated, but the surgery went off without a hitch. All that remains in the test results to determine if the growth removed is cancerous, and if she has cancer.

I feel very tired.

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

Today at work I received news that the lump in my grandma's lung turned out to me a rather minor thing - what was more worrying was a large growth detected in her kidney.

The operation to remove it will be tomorrow at 10:30AM.

Right now she's in her room talking to my father and uncle. It sounds pretty bad.

Tuesday, January 02, 2007

Yesterday I watched 3 movies: All Quiet on the Western Front, Akeelah and the Bee (and I found the guy who played Dylan Chiu hot) and Snow Cake which is showing at The Picturehouse now.

I loved Alan Rickman in Snow Cake, I have no idea why fan girls are crazy over him in the Harry Potter movie series though, his full acting chops and dry humour aren't shown there. His acting was also nicely contrasted with Sigourney Weaver's role as the madcap autistic woman (which I why I ended up watching it with my parents in the first place). The depiction of autism was also very nicely done and well researched. I really enjoyed it.

Work again tomorrow. My grandma's results to confirm the presence of a tumour in her lungs will also be out tomorrow.
